Rank Group has reported a 5% rise in net gaming revenue (NGR) to £216.1m for the first quarter of its 2026-27 financial year, with its digital NGR up 6%. Alongside the figures, the company behind Grosvenor Casino voiced concern about the prospect of higher gambling taxes.

Warning over machine games duty

Chief executive Richard Harris cautioned that any increase to machine games duty would push up costs, make venues less viable and lead to closures and job losses. He also argued that the sector can play a part in the government's growth agenda.

Three Grosvenor venues closed

According to the update, three Grosvenor venues have already closed. The company did not name a timeline for any further changes to its estate in the published summary.
